Parent Company Celebrates Anniversary

WebbSource, the parent company of the Town Crier, is celebrating its 10th year in business. Started in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, as an internet lodging advertising company when the internet was brand new. Many potential clients, though interested, didn't have a computer and no computer skills. So, Elliott Prizant, owner and founder, had no choice but to go into the computer business. Sort of a cart before the horse situation.

Back in 1994 there were no Pentium chips and no Windows 95. Compared to today, with all the technology available, it was pretty primitive. We built our customers' computers, as there was no Dell, and taught our customers to run them. Many lessons that we taught, we had just learned yesterday. A computer cost about $2,000 in parts alone, not counting assembly labor.

We developed and hosted the sites, as there were no outsourcing of these tasks. And we still provide this type of service. With the exception of access (dialup, DSL, etc) we provide our customers the total experience. It is this kind of total, in house, control that we believe is one reason for our success. Our business in East Tennessee is still very productive. We serve 25 of the finest quality lodging companies in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. Our portal website is www.SmokyMountainVacations.com and is easily viewer friendly. A companion informational website www.vacationsurvivalkit.com provides extras to an extensive newsletter mailing list.

In the summer of 2000, we moved our operations center to Wesley Chapel, Florida. Our whole lifestyle and business model changed. No longer actively soliciting business in Tennessee, gave us a lot of free time. Thus, The Wesley Chapel Town Crier (WCTC) was born. A local area news and advertising venue, WCTC is an interactive resource serving Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, Zephyrhills, and New Tampa.

"The large tabloids will provide all of the bad news any community can digest", says Elliott S. Prizant, publisher and editor. "We want to provide a discussion venue for the subjects close to the hearts of our readers. We want our readers to provide us with these subjects, such as concerns about traffic, community development, flooding, policing, and more. Tell us the good stuff such as good deeds, nice people and the such."
